From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, the "METAL ROBOT Spirits" series, which combines metallic paintwork and a die-cast frame, has announced its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY": the "Destiny Gundam [Re:Coordinate]", scheduled for release in July 2025. This product is a PREMIUM BANDAI exclusive item from Bandai's official online store.
The ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam is the latest mobile suit developed by the Z.A.F.T. military under the direction of PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal, prior to the decisive battle with the Earth Alliance. It serves as the successor machine for Z.A.F.T. pilot Shinn Asuka. Developed based on the Impulse Gundam's design, the Destiny Gundam integrates the equipment of the Force, Blast, and Sword Silhouette systems into a single unit. It also utilizes technologies prohibited by the Junius Treaty, such as the Hyper Duetrion Engine and Mirage Colloid, enabling it to deploy "Wings of Light" for super-acceleration and scatter Mirage Colloid particles to create afterimages. Its performance significantly surpasses second-generation mobile suits like the Impulse Gundam.
The "METAL ROBOT Spirits Destiny Gundam [Re:Coordinate]" is a revised version based on the previously released regular edition. It features a body proportion more faithful to the original design and a sharp, cool aesthetic. Most of the movable frame is constructed from die-cast metal, providing both joint strength and a satisfying weight during handling. The overall coloring and part molding colors have been significantly refreshed, and newly designed body markings have been printed. Compared to the initial 2019 version, the overall color tone is deeper, and the previously indistinct silver markings have been completely changed to a clearer white, resulting in a more pleasing appearance.
Other designs and contents remain the same as the regular edition. Armaments include a beam rifle, beam saber, shield, and beam shield deployment effects for both arms. The "Arondight" Beam Sword and High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon, suspended on both sides of the backpack, can both be deployed. Additionally, Palma Fiocina effect parts are included, allowing for dynamic and cool battle poses when combined with the flexible articulation and the deployment mechanism of the back wings.
