To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the King of the Monsters, "Godzilla," Japanese model toy manufacturers PLEX and ART STORM have collaborated to launch the "G-SAURUS" monster soft vinyl figure series. Following the first release, "Godzilla (2023)," the second installment features "Godzilla (2016)" from "Shin Godzilla"! The suggested retail price is 27,280 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in June 2025.
The Godzilla that appeared in the film "Shin Godzilla (シン・ゴジラ)" was designed by animator Mahiro Maeda and sculptor Takayuki Takeya. It is a "gigantic perfect organism" capable of rapid evolution and adaptation to its environment. Within hours of landing in Japan, it underwent drastic evolution, experiencing five forms: the First Form, resembling a giant tadpole; the Second Form, making its initial landing in Kamata; the Third Form, growing forelimbs after landing; the complete Fourth Form, possessing "thermonuclear energy conversion bio-organs" and devastating cities; and the Fifth Form, with the tail tip continuing to evolve after being frozen.
The "G-SAURUS Godzilla (2016)" boasts an overwhelming and voluminous size, approximately 29 cm tall and 34.5 cm long, recreating the chilling Fourth Form Godzilla! Compared to the film's design, the overall proportions have a slightly cute, low-head-to-body ratio, yet the sculpting and intricate details still retain its cool style, such as the rough, rock-like skin and the huge, complex tail. In particular, the irregularly arranged teeth and characteristic small eyes perfectly capture Godzilla's intimidating presence!
Articulated joints are designed in the neck, shoulders, arms, wrists, legs, tail, and other areas, allowing for expressive poses according to your preference. Transparent material with bright colors is used for the dorsal fins and inside the mouth, beautifully recreating the scene where its body glows red and its mouth opens wide, preparing to emit its atomic breath! Additionally, an interchangeable head part for the normal, non-split jaw is included, allowing you to admire its imposing advancing posture. Paired with an auxiliary stand that can be placed under the tail, you can pose Godzilla leaning forward, in a walking-like stance. (Both the tail stand and the soles of the feet are engraved with the G-SAURUS logo.)
