Just days after former "Captain America" Chris Evans was confirmed to return for "Avengers: Doomsday," Deadline now reports that Hayley Atwell, who plays Cap's love interest Peggy Carter, will also be rejoining the MCU. It is currently unknown if the two will share scenes in the film.
Additionally, Deadline revealed that Evans and Atwell were originally supposed to team up in another Marvel movie, a standalone film centered on their two characters. Unfortunately, the script never came together, and the project has yet to be realized. However, both actors now see "Doomsday" as the right opportunity to return.

"Doomsday" is currently slated for a North American release on May 1, 2026. The Russo Brothers, who directed the second and third "Captain America" films as well as the third and fourth "Avengers" installments, are set to return to the director's chair. Stephen McFeely, who wrote all four of the duo's previous Marvel films, is also back as screenwriter.
Besides Evans and Atwell, other actors confirmed to be returning for the massive crossover event include: current "Captain America" Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Robert Downey Jr. as the new villain Doctor Doom, and the four leads of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."
