Produced by Japan's PLEX company and released by X-PLUS company, the soft vinyl model series based on Toho's special effects monsters, "Toho 30cm Series," has announced its latest product from "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah," the "Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (1995) Last Scene," scheduled for release in May 2025. This product will be simultaneously available as a general retail version and a limited edition sold exclusively at official stores "Shonen RIC" and "GODZILLA STORE."
In the film, a violent nuclear fission reaction from high-purity natural uranium in the earth's crust caused Godzilla's home, Birth Island, to instantly disappear. Godzilla, due to an abnormal homing instinct, experienced an abnormal activation of nuclear energy within his body, causing him to continuously heat up like a giant nuclear weapon. His scorching skin glowed in a super-high temperature crimson state, and even the power of his radioactive heat ray became stronger, but his body temperature was approaching the critical meltdown temperature of 1200℃. At the end of the film, after defeating Destoroyah, Godzilla himself melted and died due to excessive temperature. However, in the smoke of the final scene, another Godzilla's backlit roaring figure appeared—that was "Godzilla Junior" resurrected after absorbing radiation.
This "Godzilla (1995) Last Scene" was originally a GK model created by Japan's foremost Godzilla sculptor, Yuji Sakai, and released at the end of 2019. This time, the same prototype has been re-produced as a pre-painted soft vinyl model, minimizing the loss of detail after molding and largely reproducing the excellent sculpt that Mr. Sakai, as a staff member at the film set, created after witnessing it up close.
The product features a height of approximately 31 cm, depicting Godzilla Junior's roaring figure in backlight at the end of the film. It thoroughly reproduces the thick chest, robust legs, and the backward-leaning posture during the roar, and largely restores the rough skin surface and intricate teeth inside the mouth from the original prototype. Furthermore, the limited edition sold at "Shonen RIC" includes a built-in LED light-up mechanism, allowing the dorsal fins to emit blue light via USB power!
