The assembly model "MODEROID" series, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced its latest product, "Fafner Mk.IV Kai Abaddon," from the anime "Fafner in the Azure THE BEYOND," slated for release in September 2025.
The Fafner "Mk.IV Kai Abaddon," piloted by Koyo Kasugai in the series, is a modified version of the original Mk.IV, upgraded to a Valhalla-type specification. It is equipped with a Canon Accelerator, which further enhances its SDP effects. Its armaments remain the same as before the modification: Koyo's SDP, with himself as the core, possesses a poison effect, allowing him to transform the standard projectile weapon "Gungnir" into the massive-bladed "Insect Sword." Furthermore, its shoulders are mounted with enormous laser cannons called "Medusa."
Upon completion, the "MODEROID Fafner Mk.IV Kai Abaddon" kit stands approximately 19 cm tall. It utilizes multi-color molded parts, pre-painted parts, and water-slide decals to faithfully recreate the anime's design, including its burnt umber armor, large armaments like Medusa, and fuselage markings. Its entire body features flexible articulation, and interchangeable parts allow for the recreation of the Canon Accelerator, the deployment mechanism for the blades hidden in its forearms, and the extended state of its back stabilizers.
The large laser cannons "Medusa" mounted on both shoulders can have their muzzles deployed. The cables connecting to the waist storage tanks are made from soft plastic parts, allowing for the recreation of a forward-firing state when combined with stand parts. The handheld projectile weapon "Gungnir" not only includes parts to recreate its firing mode and shooting effects but also features a massive clear blade effect part to recreate the "Insect Sword" in its deployed state!
