Last June, the 1998 fantasy comedy "Practical Magic" was suddenly announced for a sequel, with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock confirmed to reprise their starring roles. Months later, Warner Bros. Pictures appears to have finally found a director for the follow-up. Deadline recently reported that the studio is in talks with Susanne Bier, who won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film for "In a Better World", to take over directing duties from original helmer Griffin Dunne for "Practical Magic 2."

Bier (pictured above right) has previously worked with both Kidman and Bullock. She directed Bullock in the Netflix film "Bird Box" and helmed Kidman in the HBO miniseries "The Undoing" and the Netflix miniseries "The Perfect Couple". Now, the three are set to reunite on the same project.
Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first film, is also confirmed to return to pen the script. Returning producer Denise Di Novi previously revealed last year that the sequel will primarily adapt "The Book of Magic", the fourth book in the original novel series. Warner Bros. has not yet announced an official release date.
