BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, based in Japan, has announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island"—the "HG 1/144 Char's High Mobility Zaku II"—scheduled for release in March 2025. This addition comes from the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits.
In the film, Amuro Ray, after falling off a cliff and being injured, experiences a nightmare where the Gundam is being shot by Char's "MS-06R-1A High Mobility Zaku II." This mobile suit is an improved version of the "MS-06-R High Mobility Zaku II." In addition to a newly added escape system in the cockpit seat, the fuel tanks on the back and legs were also changed to a pod-type system, making resupply easier and possible in space. Furthermore, the "R6 kit" on both sides of the chest, as per "THE ORIGIN" version's setting, is equipped with a vulcan cannon on each side.
The "HG 1/144 Char's High Mobility Zaku II" is based on and modified from the "HG 1/144 Char's Zaku II (ORIGIN)" released in 2015. It utilizes multiple molded color parts to recreate the characteristic red tones of Char's custom machine and features the distinctive backpack and calf designs of the High Mobility type. It also includes two types of water-slide decals—anime setting and original design—allowing for the addition of Zeon emblems, numbers, white lines, and other patterns on the armor, making the Zaku's appearance richer and more realistic.
As for accessories, it includes a rich array of armaments such as the "Zaku Machine Gun," "Anti-Ship Rifle," "Bazooka A2 Type," and two "Heat Hawks" (activated and stored states). It also comes with magazines for the machine gun and bazooka, which can be mounted on the shoulder shield and side skirts, respectively. With the main body's flexible articulation, you can recreate cool battle scenes.
