Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced the release of a new plastic model kit, "Axl White Ver.," from the popular action game series Mega Man X, slated for release in June 2025. This product will be exclusively available at Kotobukiya Shop and other official designated retailers.
First appearing in Mega Man X7, the third playable character, Axl, is a prototype of a new generation Reploid. However, he appeared without any past memories and no knowledge of his creator, only knowing that he was once taken in by Red, the leader of the vigilante group "Red Alert." After escaping Red Alert, Axl encountered Zero amidst the chaos and has since been operating with the Maverick Hunters. In the sequel, Mega Man X8, players can unlock and use "White Axl" by inputting a secret code or achieving 100% enhancement. This form not only boasts enhanced dash distance and speed but also removes the time limit on his transformation ability.
"Axl White Ver." is based on the previously released standard edition kit, utilizing CAD-designed precision parts to closely match the in-game settings and proportions. The kit features new part molding colors for white, green, brown, blue, pink, and other components, along with some pre-painted parts, to faithfully reproduce the "White Axl" color scheme.
Other contents are largely identical to the standard edition, including four interchangeable face parts with identical sculpts but varying pupil colors, and four pairs of interchangeable hands. The back wing parts can be swapped to recreate both long and short styles. For weaponry, Axl comes with his signature twin handguns, twin laser guns, and a blast gun with an extendable mechanism, allowing for dynamic combat poses thanks to the flexible articulation design.
