American toy brand SUPER7 has partnered with Toho to launch the cute and retro "Toho FUN! FUN!" new collection series. The first wave will feature two new products: "Godzilla '89" from the "Godzilla vs. Biollante" theme and "Mechagodzilla '90" from "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla". The suggested retail price is US$25, with an estimated shipping date of March 2025.
"Godzilla vs. Biollante" (ゴジラvsビオランテ) is the 17th film in the Godzilla series, released in Japan in December 1989. This is the third-generation Heisei Godzilla, larger and more ferocious than the Showa version. Its atomic breath, emphasized for its immense power, was changed to a direct energy wave-like "radioactive heat ray." The story is set five years after Godzilla fell into Mount Mihara. The Self-Defense Forces initiated the "Anti-Nuclear Bacteria (ANB)" project to create a weapon against Godzilla using Godzilla's cells. The first wave, "Toho FUN! FUN! Godzilla '89," is inspired by Japanese soft vinyl figures and combines Super7's cute and minimalist design.
