American toy brand SUPER7 has partnered with Toho to launch the cute and retro new collectible series, "Toho FUN! FUN!". The first wave will feature two new products: "Godzilla '89" from the theme of "Godzilla vs. Biollante" and "MechaGodzilla 90s" from "Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla". The suggested retail price is US$25, with an estimated shipping date of March 2025.
"Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla" is the 20th film in the Godzilla series, released in 1993. In response to Godzilla's attacks, the United Nations established the Godzilla Special Forces "G-FORCE". By analyzing the sunken Mecha-King Ghidorah, they technologically created Weapon No. 1, "Garuda," and built the ultimate weapon against Godzilla, "MechaGodzilla". In the later part of the story, to improve MechaGodzilla's weakness of slow movement and insufficient mobility, it combined with Garuda to become Super MechaGodzilla, with double the firepower!
The first wave's "Toho FUN! FUN! MechaGodzilla 90s" is inspired by Japanese soft vinyl figures and combines Super7's cute and minimalist design. It recreates the MechaGodzilla that appeared in the Heisei era film "Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla" in a small size of approximately 5 inches tall! Meticulously crafted from high-quality soft vinyl material, its originally rigid armor is transformed into a short, chubby, and adorable form. The brightly colored pastry shop window packaging creates the atmosphere of a cute little gift – perfect for display even with the packaging!
