From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, the "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, which combines metallic paint finishes and die-cast frames, has announced its latest product from the "Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku" collaboration project: the "Strike Freedom Gundam Type II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]", scheduled for release in October 2025.
The "Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku" collaboration project, announced in October 2024, finally revealed a wealth of content today on "ZAKU X MIKU Day." This year will see the release of numerous model toys and merchandise resulting from the collaboration between the Gundam IP and Hatsune Miku, and it will also extend to collaborations with Bandai Namco's "Taiko no Tatsujin" and "Gundam EXVS. Series." Furthermore, the official announcement today also unveiled the collaboration song "Idol Senshi / アイドル戦士 (feat. Hatsune Miku)," which remixes many classic "Gundam" theme songs from past generations and incorporates numerous Gundam references.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Strike Freedom Gundam Type II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]" is based on the previously released standard version, and features a completely new color scheme for the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, utilizing Hatsune Miku's characteristic blue-green hair and costume colors. Particularly beautiful gradient blue colors are applied to parts such as the DRAGOONs and shoulder armor. In addition, original body markings designed with Hatsune Miku and musical notes as motifs are printed throughout the body, and even the display stand features the commemorative logo of this collaboration project.
The product will also include an acrylic standee featuring "Hatsune Miku x Strike Freedom Gundam Type II," specially drawn by illustrator A-chima for this collaboration product, which can be displayed alongside the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II figure itself.
Aside from the colors, the design is fundamentally the same as the standard version, condensing the refined styling and flexible articulation from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" into a figure approximately 14 cm tall. Many movable joints throughout the body are made of die-cast parts, providing both a weighty feel during play and excellent joint rigidity. Exposed areas are also treated with electroplated gold processing to reproduce the characteristic gold frame setting.
For weaponry, it includes the "High-Energy Beam Rifle" which can be connected front and back, the "Prototype 35-Type Railgun" used against anti-beam units, and "Beam Shield" effects for both arms. The "Beam Saber" blade effect has been changed to leek green, allowing for the recreation of Hatsune Miku's iconic leek-spinning pose. Furthermore, the eight "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings on the back and the railguns on both hips feature deployment mechanisms, allowing for the cool "Full Burst Mode" to be recreated with the dedicated display stand.
