To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the anime Digimon Adventure 02, Bandai Namco Toys & Hobby today announced its latest commemorative product, the "D-3 Digivice DETECT & DISCOVER -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-", slated for release in July 2025. This product will be simultaneously launched in three versions: "Daisuke Motomiya Color," "Ken Ichijouji Color," and "DX Set Imperialdramon Color."
The "D-3 Digivice DETECT & DISCOVER -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-" is a redesign based on the original version released in 2000, inheriting its appearance and size. The hardware has been modernized with a color LCD screen, a built-in vibration motor, and USB Type-C charging capabilities. Along with the hardware upgrade, the game software has also been significantly updated, allowing players to fully relive the story of Digimon Adventure 02 through vivid visual presentations and rich sound effects and music.
In the game, players can adventure as six of the DigiDestined children—Daisuke Motomiya, Ken Ichijouji, Miyako Inoue, Iori Hida, Takeru Takaishi, and Hikari Yagami—along with their partner Digimon such as Veemon and Wormmon. Traverse between the Real World and the Digital World to experience the anime storyline of Digimon Adventure 02. Over 120 Digimon can be encountered throughout the story, including the original protagonists like a middle school-aged Taichi Yagami, and Wallace and Gumdramon from the movie will also appear!
The game features magnificent visual presentations, classic in-game music, and character voices. Digimon evolution scenes from the anime are rendered in full color, accompanied by exciting evolution background songs like 'Break Up!' and 'Brave Heart!'. As players progress, they can collect "Digi-Armor" fragments, and upon completion, their partner Digimon can perform "Armor Evolution." Furthermore, Jogress Evolutions such as "Veemon + Wormmon = Paildramon" are recreated, and can even evolve further into "Imperialdramon," "Imperialdramon Fighter Mode," and "Imperialdramon Paladin Mode."
Even more impressively, all seven playable DigiDestined children, including Daisuke Motomiya and Wallace, and their partner Digimon, have had their voices newly recorded by their original voice actors, such as Reiko Kiuchi and Romi Park (Hiroaki Hirata, who voices 36-year-old Takeru Takaishi, did not re-record), allowing players to rediscover the charm of each character and Digimon.
Additionally, the luxurious "DX Set Imperialdramon Color" includes three major limited bonuses: ten "Digi-Armor" mini figures, each approximately 3 cm tall; a "Commemorative Art Book" featuring in-game illustrations, character portraits, and pixel art; and three "Special Picnic Items" not available in the regular versions.
