The popular mecha girl-themed plastic model series "Megami Device", released by Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, has announced its latest product, "PUNI☆MOFU Xiao", scheduled for release in August 2025.
The fourth machine in the PUNI☆MOFU series, "Xiao", is also designed by Japanese illustrator BLADE. Compared to the previous two releases, Neko and Usagi, which used the small, articulated "Block2-S" body, the subsequent Ookami and Xiao are characters that combine cuteness with a mature, older-sister charm. Therefore, they are built using the relatively larger standard "Block2-M" body, while maintaining the dreamy color scheme.
In terms of machine design, "Xiao" is the first purely air combat type machine in the PUNI☆MOFU series. It features a pair of main wings mounted on its arms and forewings on either side of its head, allowing for excellent maneuverability from low to high speeds. While not adept at direct combat, its reconnaissance, stealth, and surprise attack capabilities are outstanding. It can even transform into a "bird mother" to serve as a transport aircraft for the smaller Neko and Usagi units.
"PUNI☆MOFU Xiao" is based on the "Block2-M" body designed by sculptor Masaki Apsy. It utilizes new head, chest, and large main wing parts to recreate its adorable harpy image, and employs a rich variety of molded part colors to reproduce the dreamy pink and purple tones of its entire body. It also includes dedicated decals to complete the machine's markings and cell divisions.
The voluptuous body features flexible articulated joints, allowing for a variety of cute and alluring poses. It comes with three pre-printed face parts and multiple PVC hand parts for replacement, enabling the expression of Xiao's emotional changes in various scenes.
After attaching the various exterior parts, it can transform into a dynamic and agile armed mode. The main wings, which also serve as the primary weapon, the "Gentle and Cute Big Sister Wings (Super Owl Wings)", can combine with the back unit to form various configurations such as a "staff" or "bow and arrow".
Furthermore, all body parts utilize a common 3mm diameter joint connection, allowing for creative freedom in swapping and assembling parts, or for customization with other Kotobukiya plastic models such as 'Megami Device', 'Frame Arms Girl', and 'Sousai Shojo Teien'.
