Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, has announced the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam", the "HG 1/144 Z Gundam [U.C.0088] (Bio-Sensor Color Scheme)", which is scheduled to be released in stores starting April 19, 2025.
The MSZ-006 Z Gundam is a next-generation transformable MS developed by the AEUG after acquiring the Titans' new mobile suit, the "RX-178 Gundam MK-II", utilizing its movable frame technology. It features highly rigid and lightweight armor made of Gundarium γ alloy, and is equipped with a rich arsenal including a beam rifle, beam saber, and grenade launchers with multiple warhead types. It also incorporates a simplified psycho-communicator, the "Bio-Sensor", which allows Newtype pilots to enhance the mobile suit's performance through their brainwaves. When fully activated, it can generate incredible powers such as strengthening beam weapons, forming shields, and disabling enemy mobile suits.
The "HG 1/144 Z Gundam [U.C.0088] (Bio-Sensor Color Scheme)" released this time utilizes the general release kit from 2018, which was a modification of the "HG 1/144 Z Gundam (GUNPLA EVOLUTION PROJECT)" released as part of the Gundam 40th Anniversary project. It features numerous new parts for the head, body, arms, skirt armor, leg armor, and flight armor, recreating the late-model appearance seen from the latter half of "Z" to the early part of "ZZ". The red sections on the outer edges of the back flight armor are also separately molded. The overall part molding colors have been significantly changed, using various metallic molding colors to express the mobile suit's appearance glowing red after the Bio-Sensor is activated in the series.
Other aspects remain the same as the general release, featuring flexible articulation for dynamic posing, and the ability to recreate the "Wave Rider" form through part swapping. The armament includes a beam saber, beam rifle, shield, and Hyper Mega Launcher. The shield's expansion and contraction are recreated by swapping parts, and the grenade launcher built into the right arm can open its hatch to reveal the internal warhead sculpt.
