The 'METAL ROBOT Damashii' series, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., which combines metallic texture painting and an alloy frame, has announced the commercialization of its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans", the "Gundam Barbatos Lupus STORE LIMITED EDITION". This product is scheduled to be exclusively sold starting July 2025 at official direct sales channels such as TAMASHII NATIONS brand flagship stores "TAMASHII NATIONS STORE" and "TAMASHII SPOT".
The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus is a new form of the Gundam Barbatos, refurbished by Tekkadan after the fierce battle with Gjallarhorn in Edmonton. With technical support from Teiwaz, significant internal and external adjustments were made, adopting multiple curved armor plates to reduce impact from hits and lighten the weight to improve mobility. For the "Alaya-Vijnana System", further analysis and adjustments were made based on past combat data to allow the protagonist, Mikazuki, to achieve a greater man-machine integration, thereby enhancing overall performance. In addition to the close-combat Sword Mace and Small Mace, 200mm cannons and rocket launchers can also be added to its arms.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Gundam Barbatos Lupus STORE LIMITED EDITION" is a modified version based on the 2021 release, featuring streamlined weapon accessories. It also boasts a newly designed demon crest display stand and a brand-new, boutique-style outer box design inspired by TAMASHII NATIONS STORE.
The main body is essentially the same as the regular version, featuring a highly substantial alloy movable frame at approximately 15 cm tall, providing both a weighty feel during play and tight joint articulation. The exterior armor utilizes various glossy, matte, and metallic paint finishes. The alloy frame parts are first electroplated to achieve a metallic texture, then further painted with metallic colors to highlight the subtle differences in each component, allowing one to appreciate the robust texture and appeal of the Gundam frame. The armor also features multiple body markings, including the "Tekkadan logo", significantly enhancing realism.
Regarding weapon accessories, this version only includes the Sword Mace, two 200mm cannons equipped on the arms, a set of clear auxiliary stands, a set of adapter parts, three pairs of interchangeable sculpted hands, and the aforementioned newly designed demon crest display stand. Although it lacks the Small Mace, Valkyrie Buster Sword, lightning-shaped eye glowing effect, etc., found in the regular version, its highly flexible articulation, hydraulic rod linkage mechanisms, and other features still allow for dynamic and cool combat poses.
