Following 2023's "Rivendell" and 2024's "Barad-dûr," Danish toy company LEGO is set to release another The Lord of the Rings set in 2025! The 10354 set, "The Lord of the Rings: The Shire," is scheduled for release on April 5, 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$269.99.
When it comes to the Shire, Lord of the Rings fans immediately picture the beautiful and peaceful Hobbiton and its many Hobbits. In the film "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," Bilbo Baggins' 111th birthday party marks the beginning of Frodo's adventure. This "The Lord of the Rings: The Shire" LEGO set not only allows you to relive the wonderful moments of that birthday party but also offers the opportunity to acquire the luxurious Hobbit hole, "Bag End," again after many years, following "79003 An Unexpected Gathering."
Once assembled, Bag End stands approximately 23 cm tall. It not only captures the vivid exterior of the dwelling, with its beautiful windows and iconic green round door, but turning it around reveals interior details such as the entrance hall, study, and living room. It achieves what Tolkien described as "comfortable" within a limited space. Plus, there's a small mechanism that can transform a burning letter into the One Ring. Overall, it is truly much more luxurious than the 79003 set. Coupled with Gandalf's cart, the party scene, fireworks, a firework dragon, and an oversized birthday cake, it will undoubtedly thrill Lord of the Rings fans.
A list of all minifigures included in this set: In addition to classic characters like Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Gandalf the Grey, it also includes Mrs. Proudfoot, Farmer Proudfoot, and Sam's beloved Rosie.
However, for a set with just over two thousand pieces, the US$269.99 price tag for "The Lord of the Rings: The Shire" truly surprised the editor. Fortunately, purchasing The Shire comes with a gift-with-purchase, "40761 The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol and Déagol," which feels like a bit of a compensation.
