TUNSHI STUDIO, known for developing numerous realistic character figures, has obtained official authorization from SNK to release a 1/6 scale articulated figure of the popular character "Genjuro Kibagami" from their classic fighting game "Samurai Shodown II". It is scheduled for release in September 2025, with a suggested retail price of 58,850 JPY.
We believe everyone is familiar with SNK's "Samurai Shodown" (SAMURAI SPIRITS), which first appeared in arcades in 1993. A defining characteristic of the game is that each character possesses their own unique weapon, making it the progenitor of sword-fighting games where characters clash with their weapons. The in-game effects, such as blood sprays and dismemberment, were also among its selling points.
First appearing in the sequel, "Samurai Shodown II", Genjuro Kibagami (KIBAKAMI GENJURO) is a highly popular antagonist in the series. He is the sworn enemy of Haohmaru; both were originally disciples of Nicotine Caffeine, but Genjuro was later expelled from the dojo after his inner darkness was exposed. Subsequently, he took up assassination work and constantly sought to slay Haohmaru. He enjoys frequenting pleasure districts, his beloved sword is named "Baioh-doku" (Plum Nightingale Poison), and his special moves often feature Hanafuda card effects.
This 1/6 scale articulated figure of Genjuro Kibagami by TUNSHI STUDIO stands approximately 31 cm tall. Its primary design reference is his debut appearance in "Samurai Shodown II", featuring a bare-chested, muscular base body with excellent articulation. All clothing below the waist is made from fabric. For accessories, it includes interchangeable hand parts and expression parts, Genjuro's favorite sake cup, pipe, and his beloved sword Baioh-doku, as well as Hanafuda cards that appear in the background during his special moves, slashing effect parts, and a display stand. The overall content is incredibly rich, making it a worthwhile collectible for SNK fighting game fans.
