American toy manufacturer SUPER7, known for its "Super Cyborg" series which allows for the removal of outer armor to reveal mechanical inner workings, recently unveiled two interesting new products. This article will feature the "Super Cyborg The Iron Giant (Clear Version)" from the sci-fi animated film "The Iron Giant"! Shipping is expected to begin in April 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$85.
"The Iron Giant," adapted from Ted Hughes' novel of the same name, is set in 1957 during the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union. The protagonist, Hogarth, whose mother often works overtime, was lonely and always wanted a pet for companionship. One day, Hogarth thought aliens had appeared deep in the forest and went to investigate. However, what awaited him was not strange alien life, but a colossal robot devouring the steel structures of a power substation as if they were delicacies!
Initially terrified and running away, Hogarth later discovered the Iron Giant was in immense pain, entangled in power lines and touching high-voltage electricity. Hogarth then bravely rescued the giant robot. They later became good friends; Hogarth taught the Iron Giant language, played with him, watched superhero comics together, and even witnessed the death of a deer. Until one time while playing, Hogarth's toy gun accidentally activated the Iron Giant's automatic defense mechanism; meanwhile, government forces were gradually closing in on the Iron Giant's location...
As early as September 2023, when news of the "Super Cyborg The Iron Giant" was released, the editor had already considered the possibility of a clear version appearing in the future. And now – it's really here! This product shares the same specifications as the earlier regular version, standing approximately 28 cm tall with 11 points of articulation, and features five removable outer armor pieces. However, the body and all armor are made from transparent material, allowing the internal structure to be seen whether the armor is on or off. When the armor is removed, the details can be appreciated even more closely! The mechanical details are painted with a more substantial metallic finish, presenting a visual effect quite distinct from the regular version.
▼ This product also includes a Hogarth figure, approximately 4 cm tall. It's a pity he didn't turn transparent too~
