Tom Holland's "Spider-Man" series has consistently featured an older superhero in a prominent supporting role. The first film saw Iron Man, the second brought in Nick Fury, and the third introduced Doctor Strange. Now, it appears the upcoming fourth installment, reportedly titled "Brand New Day," will continue this tradition, as Nexus Point News exclusively reported today that Mark Ruffalo is set to join the film, reprising his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Nexus Point News indicated that while it's uncertain if Ruffalo will transform into the Hulk in the film, his role is confirmed to be more substantial than a mere cameo. His screen time is expected to be comparable to that of Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, and Benedict Cumberbatch in the previous three installments.
"Brand New Day" will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," taking over from Jon Watts, who helmed the first three "Spider-Man" films. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the writing duo behind the previous trilogy, are returning to pen the script. Holland and Zendaya are confirmed to reprise their roles, with Sadie Sink joining the cast. The film is currently slated for a July 31, 2026, release.
