KONAMI's highly anticipated new title, "Silent Hill f," dropped its latest trailer and officially announced a September 25, 2025 release date during today's (June 5) Sony State of Play presentation. Since its initial reveal in 2022, the game has garnered significant buzz for its eerie atmosphere and unique 1960s Japanese setting, and now fans finally have a launch date to mark on their calendars.

"Silent Hill f" boasts a script penned by Ryukishi07, the acclaimed writer behind "Higurashi: When They Cry." The game plunges players into the 1960s Japanese town of Echigooka, where protagonist Hinako Fukami and her friends find their peaceful lives shattered by a sudden, mysterious fog, dragging them into a nightmarish transformation.
The trailer itself is a masterclass in psychological horror, showcasing unsettling red flowers blooming, terrifying dolls in pursuit, torn faces, and grotesquely twisted limbs – all delivering intense visual shocks that build an overwhelmingly oppressive atmosphere.

This isn't just the first "Silent Hill" game set primarily in Japan; it's also the first in the series to receive Japan's M-rating (restricted/adults-only). Official statements reveal the game will feature gruesome visuals like "pierced bodies," "torn faces," "death by burning in a cage," and "displayed internal organs," pushing players' psychological limits.
What's more, "Silent Hill f" is a standalone story, not directly connected to previous entries in the series. However, it retains classic "Silent Hill" elements such as pervasive fog, supernatural phenomena, and the core theme of a lone protagonist fighting for survival. The trailer even shows the protagonist wielding a crowbar for self-defense, a clear nod to the series' iconic tropes.
"Silent Hill f" is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5.
