"Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" Drops New Trailer, "Ape Escape" Mode Returns, "Metal Gear Online" Tease Ignites Fan Hopes

During Sony Interactive Entertainment's (SIE) PlayStation State of Play showcase earlier today, KONAMI unleashed a brand-new trailer for the highly anticipated "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater." The fresh footage offered a deeper dive into gameplay mechanics and visual upgrades, capped off with a delightful surprise: the classic mini-game mode, "Snake vs. Monkey," is making a glorious return!

The trailer put Naked Snake's legendary stealth skills front and center, showcasing signature moves like crawling, camouflaged infiltration, hiding in tall grass, and surprise enemy takedowns. It also teased intense showdowns with iconic series bosses, highlighting the remake's stunning graphical and performance enhancements.

Towards the end of the trailer, the remastered "Snake vs. Monkey" mode made its appearance, tasking Snake with stealthily approaching and capturing mischievous monkeys. This mode originally debuted as a crossover side-story with the "Ape Escape" (サルゲッチュ) series, and its return with polished visuals is sure to add a fun, nostalgic twist to the game.

Notably, the Xbox version of the game will not include this mode. Instead, it will feature "Bomberman"-inspired gameplay content, with more details expected at a future Xbox Showcase.

Adding to the excitement, the trailer's cryptic final phrase, "and more," has sent fans into a frenzy, sparking speculation about the potential return of "Metal Gear Online" (メタルギアオンライン). While not directly confirmed, those few seconds of footage have certainly reignited hope among long-time fans.

"Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" is slated to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on August 28, 2025.
