Max Factory, a Japanese model manufacturer, has announced the latest product from its highly popular and diverse plastic model kit brand, 'PLAMAX,' the 'KING GAINER' from the robot anime 'OVERMAN KING GAINER,' scheduled for release in January 2026.
A robot anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, 'OVERMAN KING GAINER,' which aired in 2002, is set on a future Earth where the environment has deteriorated. Humanity has built giant city-states and lives within them, awaiting the recovery of the natural environment. The protagonist, Gainer, is a 17-year-old boy skilled in video games. One day, on his way to school, he is forcibly arrested by the security forces, suspected of being an anti-government "Exodusist." In prison, he meets a young man named Gain from the Exodus organization, who helps Gainer escape and entrusts him with piloting the OVERMAN "KING GAINER." Gainer suddenly becomes a member of Exodus, whose goal is to travel to the fertile land of "JAPAN"....
The completed 'PLAMAX KING GAINER' kit is a fully articulated plastic model standing approximately 20 cm tall. Its overall design is based on the PVC finished product model produced in 2005, which was inspired by AKIMAN's (Akira Yasuda) illustrations. It has been re-created using the latest articulation division technology and molded in as many as seven colors: silver, red, blue, yellow, light blue, iron gray, and clear blue.
Some colors on the head and waist are reproduced with pre-painted parts. It also includes water-slide decals to recreate the machine's markings and part separation. Assembly is easy with snap-fit construction and some parts requiring adhesive. Accessories include its signature weapon, the "Chainsaw Gun," which can recreate two blade styles and a waist-mounted state through interchangeable parts. Combined with the main body's flexible articulation, you can recreate dynamic battle poses from the series!
