As the latest Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime series heads into its final episodes, its high-tension action, intricate plot, and mysterious developments have kept fans buzzing. Yesterday (June 18), the late-night broadcast of Episode 11, "The Alpha Destroyers," ignited a massive discussion, leaving viewers stunned.
The "Red Uniform" image, which the official X account had revealed when it hit 380,000 followers before the episode aired, naturally made its appearance in Episode 11. However, this sequence, which fans quickly dubbed a "magical girl transformation," was surprisingly given to a highly anticipated character, sparking intense debate and a flurry of fan-made content on X.

The "Red Uniform" image, teased by the official channels, appeared in this episode. "Shirouzu," who had been operating in Io Magnus, unexpectedly encountered Kycilia while evading a skirmish. Kycilia recognized Shirouzu as none other than the "Red Comet," Char Aznable. Kycilia demanded Char join her ranks or face death, but Char refused.
Later, after Matchu and Nean's mobile suit battle spilled into the area, Char fled with Matchu. During their escape, they found a "Red Gundam," which suddenly emitted a dazzling light. To everyone's surprise, it transformed Char's attire back into his iconic Zeon uniform from the One Year War, complete with his helmet and mask! Char then explained, "This is how she (Lalah) recognizes me..."
This entire sequence was instantly clowned on by many viewers as a "magical girl transformation" scene. Fans were absolutely floored, never expecting Char to pull off such a move in a Gundam series!
▼ Even Grok helped compile the topic, making it one of X's trending hot searches.
Unsurprisingly, netizens quickly re-edited the clip, replacing the audio with the transformation BGM from "Sailor Moon"—and it fits perfectly, LOL.
Fan edits and redraws popped up almost instantly. I mean, does Char Aznable really look this good in a magical girl outfit?!
However, some netizens pointed out that manga artist Megumi Ikeda's past work, "Mahō no Shōi Blaster Mari" (Magical Lieutenant Blaster Mari), featured a similar style—though it was a character wearing Char-like attire, not Char himself, lol.
What's more, an artist had already drawn fan art last week imagining Char making a dashing entrance as a magical girl. Looks like they were a prophet, huh?!
There's no shortage of this kind of fan content. Now, if you search for "Char" on X, you'll find a ton of related searches for "Pretty Cure" or "magical girl."
On another note, Char's disguised "Shirouzu" look also earned massive praise from netizens, especially his hair-swept-back style in this episode. Many fans exclaimed he looked incredibly handsome, saying they'd never seen Char Aznable look quite like this before!
Clearly, Char's appearance in this episode instantly became the talk of the town, pulling the plot's focus squarely onto this charismatic man. That's the undeniable power of Char's charm, alright!
As the story hurtles towards its climactic finale, a single "Red Uniform" silhouette released by official channels managed to spark such widespread discussion and speculation. No matter what, Char truly is the man who gets results!
