The latest Gundam anime, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," wrapped up its 12-episode, three-month run tonight (June 25) with its finale, "That's Why I..."
Hideaki Anno, president of Studio Khara and one of the scriptwriters for the series, shared his thoughts on the official "Khara 2nd Unit" X (formerly Twitter) account, extending his gratitude to director Kazuya Tsurumaki for his hard work.
The "Khara 2nd Unit" X account posted: "GQuuuuuuX Episode 12, the grand finale. President Anno commented: 'This 12-episode condensed TV anime is a testament to Director Tsurumaki's immense passion, persistence, and dedication. I'm incredibly happy that I could contribute even a small part; it's been a fortunate creative journey.' Huge thanks to all the staff and voice actors for their incredible work."
The post also hinted that this ending is just a new beginning, urging fans to keep an eye out for Khara's upcoming projects, and even those further down the line!
(For those wondering, Khara's next big project is a new "Space Battleship Yamato" theatrical anime, already in the works!)
Naturally, fans flooded the comments, thanking Anno and the production team. Many admitted that "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" was their gateway into the Gundam universe, with the pre-release theatrical film and subsequent TV season proving to be a perfect combo for hooking new fans.
Of course, some netizens couldn't resist a playful jab, joking: "Alright... guess it's time to get back to work on 'Shin Space Battleship Yamato,' 'Shin Gamera,' 'Shin Gosei Sentai,' 'Shin Kamen Rider Kuuga,' 'Shin Spider-Man,' 'Shin Space Sheriff Gavan,' 'Shin Mazinger Z,' 'Shin Getter Robo,' 'Shin Doraemon,' 'Shin Crayon Shin-chan,' and 'Shin Atashin'chi'..." (Phew!)
Looks like everyone's having a blast imagining all the "Shin" projects Anno might tackle next! LOL.
And of course, there's no shortage of Gundam wishlists either! Since "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" pulled UC.0079 into an alternate timeline, who wouldn't be curious to see what other 'what if' scenarios could be explored? The possibilities are endless!
With the 12-episode "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" now concluded, this epic collaboration between Studio Khara (of "Evangelion" fame) and Sunrise (the powerhouse behind "Mobile Suit Gundam") has come to an end. So, what did you think of the anime's performance?
