X User Draws From Memory to Ask for Artist ID, But Their "Sketch" Is So Good, Netizens Call Them a Master Artist Too!

Online communities are incredibly convenient these days. Sometimes, when you're stumped, a quick post on social media can connect you with a legend who'll solve your problem faster than you could ever Google it yourself. It's truly a testament to the power of online communities!

Recently, a Japanese X user named Tsuchinoko (@Syonben_tibiri) was on a quest to find an illustration he'd seen about six years ago. The artwork featured Shimakaze from Kantai Collection rocking a gym uniform. Despite only having a hazy memory, he decided to sketch out what he remembered and asked the internet, "Has anyone seen this drawing?" His incredibly detailed sketch quickly went viral, sparking a massive discussion.

The user's drawing, based purely on memory, depicted Shimakaze in a gym uniform, looking like she'd just crossed a finish line. He later clarified in a follow-up post that his memory might be a bit fuzzy on some details, but he was absolutely certain Shimakaze was wearing a gym uniform, pleading with the internet to help him find this elusive illustration from his past.

And of course, the internet delivered! It wasn't long before a netizen swiftly dropped the correct link, revealing the illustration was by the renowned artist Kasu Shirone (@kasu1923), drawn back in 2015. And yep, it was Shimakaze in a red gym uniform!

Seeing his "first love illustration" reappear after so many years, the user was overcome with emotion, exclaiming, "That's the one! Thank you so much!"

The incident resonated with tons of netizens and ignited a heated discussion. Some marveled, "That memory is insane, even the expression is spot on!" and "To be able to draw such a similar composition from memory is truly a miracle." Others chimed in, "Your own version is a masterpiece, you're a master artist yourself!"

The user confessed that he first saw the artwork when he got his first smartphone, making it a particularly special memory for him, which fueled his determination to find it. "It's not about how similar the drawing is; it had to be 'that exact one.'"

Even the original artist, Kasu Shirone, was stunned by the viral post on X, remarking, "It's already been ten years... my head hurts!"

While this plea for help showcased the incredible power of online communities coming together, it also unexpectedly revealed that the person asking for a "master artist's" illustration was, in fact, a "master artist" themselves! To recreate such a similar composition and result from memory truly proves that hidden talents are everywhere!
