GBWC Champion Morish Transforms HG Light Cannon into a "Stark Light Cannon" Inspired by the Jegan!

We’ve previously featured the incredible work of GunPla builder and X (formerly Twitter) user morish (@O15RXnhQL8nvfYW), who snagged both the Japan Championship and Audience Choice Award at the GunPla Builders World Cup (GBWC) 2023 (11th Edition). His "Gundam Dynames Physical II " build was a masterclass in professional craftsmanship and intricate design, leaving everyone in awe of his high-level skill.

Recently, morish unveiled his latest masterpiece: the "Stark Light Cannon." This custom mobile suit takes Bandai's recently released "HG 1/144 Light Cannon" from the series "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" as its base, transforming it with a plethora of added weapons and thrusters. The new look has already garnered significant praise from fans online.

According to morish, the "Stark Light Cannon" draws its name from the Stark Jegan (RGM-89S) from "Mobile Suit Gundam UC." In his custom lore, this Light Cannon is a post-war upgrade, modified to counter Zeon mobile suits equipped with all-range weaponry. It features additional armor on the chest and legs, along with a custom-designed, enhanced backpack specifically for space combat.

For the added armor, morish ingeniously repurposed parts: the leg armor comes from the Dilanza Sol from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury," while the chest armor utilizes components from the Gundam Zabanya from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00."

The primary armament is a massive bazooka. Since the original HG Light Cannon's back-mounted cannon was removed during the modification, this handheld bazooka is now the sole "cannon" element remaining in the name (lol). Lore-wise, it's designed for anti-ship combat, making this colossal weapon a standard-issue piece of gear!

The key modifications for this build are the leg and chest armor, along with the shoulder-mounted missile launchers, all contributing to a distinct RGM-89S Stark Jegan aesthetic.

morish explains that in his custom world, technological advancement progresses much faster than in the official timeline. This allows "Stark"-type mobile suits, originally seen in "Mobile Suit Gundam UC," to appear earlier, and he wanted to bring that concept to life.

morish has also announced his intention to participate in GBWC 2025, and we can't wait to see what he brings to the competition! If you're keen to see more of his incredible work, be sure to check out his X account.
