For any Gunpla enthusiast, the mantra "Gunpla is freedom" rings true. It's this boundless creative potential that inspires countless builders to push the envelope, exploring all sorts of themes and truly embodying the spirit of the phrase.
Recently on X (formerly Twitter), Japanese Gunpla artist myaoyu (@myaoyu3) showcased their incredible creativity and skill. They've taken the familiar amphibious Mobile Suits of the Zeon army from Mobile Suit Gundam—affectionately known as the "Zeon Aquatic Club"—and transformed them into an array of adorable, dessert and bread-themed models! These sweet creations are not only charming but also incredibly appetizing, drawing widespread attention and praise from netizens for their playful style.

In this latest series, myaoyu tackled multiple MS, including the Z'Gok, Zock, and Acguy, reimagining them as a scone, a teriyaki roll, bacon and egg toast, and even chocolate mint ice cream. Through clever painting and tiny embellishments, these Zeon aquatic Mobile Suits—already known for their cute designs—gain an extra layer of whimsical charm. You can almost taste them!
While myaoyu used Bandai's Gundam Shokugan (candy toy) line as a base, their painting is incredibly realistic, featuring perfectly browned crusts, glossy finishes, and even the look of melted cheese. It's easy to mistake these for actual edible dessert models!
Beyond just paint, myaoyu incorporated various modeling materials to enhance the food's realism. For instance, the cream and toast are crafted from "resin clay" and "lightweight clay," while the ice cream parts use "ice cream modeling clay." The most mind-blowing detail? The toast base for the "Bacon Egg Toast Z'Gok" is actually made from a "scouring pad," transforming it into a surprisingly high-quality slice of bread!

Myaoyu is renowned for their food-themed Gunpla creations, and this latest series was meticulously completed using both hand-painting and an airbrush. They even shared that the most challenging part was painting the "mono-eye radar track details," requiring a super-fine nail art brush and a steady hand. The results, however, are absolutely stunning.
Take, for example, the Acguy inspired by a dorayaki (a Japanese red bean pancake). Achieving that perfect texture and color requires a delicate touch. Myaoyu also expressed a desire to one day complete an entire "Gundam x Dessert Afternoon Tea Platter," creating Gunpla so delicious-looking they'll make your mouth water.

Another fantastic piece is the Beargguy (Petit'gguy) inspired by a mint chocolate shaved ice, complete with an ice cream scoop on its head. The color scheme and fuzzy neck detailing perfectly evoke a refreshing, cool sensation.
