Illustrator Nagano’s Chiikawa has taken the world by storm, with its distinctive anime adaptation winning even more fans. This year’s theatrical release pushed the franchise further into the mainstream and sparked another wave of buzz.
More good news arrived on October 29: the hugely popular Japanese CHIIKAWA OBANYAKI in TAIPEI is opening its first permanent overseas store in Taipei on November 21, 2026!
The new permanent store will serve freshly baked obanyaki shaped like the faces of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi. Each fluffy cake comes packed with fillings such as cream or red bean paste and is carefully baked right inside the store.
These piping-hot treats are perfect for snacking on while exploring the neighborhood, or taking home as a sweet souvenir.
Three flavors have been confirmed so far: red bean, cream, and sweet potato. Drinks will also be available in specially designed bottles.
