With San Diego Comic-Con in full swing, Lionsgate seized the opportunity to promote its major upcoming dystopian feature, "The Long Walk," dropping a second trailer this weekend.
The film is an adaptation of Stephen King's 1979 novel of the same name, originally published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman. Francis Lawrence, a frequent Lionsgate collaborator and director of "The Hunger Games" series, is at the helm. The movie is set to hit theaters on September 12.

"The Long Walk" was penned by JT Mollner, director of "Strange Darling." The cast features veteran actors Judy Greer and Mark Hamill alongside a lineup of rising stars, including David Jonsson, Charlie Plummer, Roman Griffin Davis ("Jojo Rabbit"), Cooper Hoffman (son of Philip Seymour Hoffman), and Ben Wang, the star of the upcoming "Karate Kid" film.

Similar to Lawrence's "The Hunger Games" series, the plot of "The Long Walk" is set in a totalitarian future America and revolves around a deadly survival competition. In the story, an annual event called "The Long Walk" is held on May 1st. The contest has no finish line; participants must maintain a speed of over four miles per hour. If a contestant's speed drops below that for more than thirty seconds, they receive a warning. After three warnings, they are shot and killed. Each year, one hundred contestants compete until only one final winner remains.
