Fresh off its monumental success, Godzilla Minus One (Godzilla-1.0) — the 30th film in the Godzilla franchise, Toho's 33rd, and the fifth of the Reiwa era — captivated audiences worldwide. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the film garnered immense critical acclaim, culminating in an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Oscars, a historic first for any Godzilla movie.
Last November, it was announced that the 31st film in the series would also be helmed by Takashi Yamazaki. Now, on July 27, an official announcement has dropped: a new "super-production monster movie" is looking for a massive number of extras! This news has set X (formerly Twitter) ablaze, becoming a trending topic.

The casting call, posted by the official Godzilla X account, confirms it's for director Takashi Yamazaki's upcoming "super-production monster movie" (title TBD). This new project promises to bring together a top-tier Japanese cast. They're currently seeking a large number of "volunteer extras" and are inviting anyone interested to be part of the film's production! Participants will even receive limited-edition, non-sale commemorative merchandise!

Three main filming locations have been confirmed: Tsukuba Mirai City, Kasama City, and Kuji District, all within Ibaraki Prefecture. Filming is scheduled from late August through mid-September.

While the official announcement doesn't explicitly name the monster protagonist, the fact that it's coming from the official Godzilla X account and is directed by Takashi Yamazaki makes it incredibly hard not to connect the dots to a new Godzilla film. Fans are understandably hyped!

No official title yet, but come on, a "super-production monster movie" from this team? If it's not Big G, who else could it be? XD With extras already being recruited and filming set to kick off in late August/early September, we might just get some more juicy details sooner rather than later!
