The blockbuster horror franchise "It," which grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, is set to return this October as a prequel series, "It: Welcome to Derry," on HBO Max (exact date to be announced). A second trailer was recently released as part of the San Diego Comic-Con promotional activities. Andy Muschietti, who directed both "It" films, serves as a producer and helmed several episodes of the new series.

In addition to Andy Muschietti returning as executive producer and director, his sister Barbara Muschietti also serves as a creator and producer for the series. Bill Skarsgård reprises his iconic role as Pennywise the Clown. Jason Fuchs, co-writer of "Wonder Woman," and Brad Kane, co-writer of "Tokyo Vice," are the series' showrunners.
"It: Welcome to Derry" draws from interludes in Stephen King's original novel, delving into Pennywise's origins. The series is planned for at least three seasons, with the first season set in 1962, the second in 1935, and the third in 1908, exploring the timeline in reverse.
