Airing in 2007 and spanning two TV anime seasons, "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" is a fan favorite among Gundam enthusiasts. Its intricate plot, compelling characters, powerful mobile suit designs, and top-notch animation still hold up today.
We've previously covered overseas X user HIM'EL ( @BasedLEDA ), who shot to internet fame after falling for Nena in "Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory" only to be crushed by her storyline. Now, he's diving into "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," and guess what? He's fallen for another character named "Nena Trinity"! Her character arc, however, has once again left him utterly bewildered and posting about his meltdown, leading many netizens to dub him a "villainess magnet" XD.
"Nena Trinity" in "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" is a Gundam Meister belonging to Celestial Being's second unit, "Trinity." She possesses the ability to manipulate brain quantum waves and pilots the "GNW-003 Gundam Throne Drei." Despite her cute appearance, she's actually volatile and cruel, showing no remorse for war or killing, and even engaging in civilian massacres.
Honestly, when Nena Trinity first appeared, she totally gave off innocent, adorable girl vibes. Plus, she's voiced by the legendary "Rie Kugimiya," and she even stole protagonist Setsuna's first kiss! No wonder our overseas X user quickly fell for her XD.
Naturally, netizens were quick to respond, popcorn ready for the inevitable XD.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before HIM'EL witnessed Nena going berserk, attacking civilians in her Gundam. His reaction? "She's absolutely insane..."
The meltdown was swift. Just moments after gushing about Nena's cuteness, he was left utterly confused, wondering if she had serious psychological issues and why she was committing such wild, deranged acts.
Of course, plenty of netizens were just waiting for this show to unfold XD. This time, it was a quick realization: that cute girl was actually a walking red flag...
HIM'EL's reactions also caught the attention of many Japanese netizens, who recalled feeling the same way when the anime first aired: "They cast a super popular voice actress like Kugimiya for such a despicable character!"
Even the Japanese were in on the fun.
Many of you probably understand this pain: discovering that a character you stan turns into someone utterly detestable in the story, especially one voiced by Rie Kugimiya. Hitting a landmine like that? Totally not your fault, QQ.
