Legendary game creator Hideo Kojima recently opened up in a rare interview with Ssense, discussing his stance on the upcoming remake, "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater". Despite being the original mastermind behind the iconic series, Kojima chuckled during the chat, stating, "No, I won't play it." This instantly reignited speculation about his relationship with former employer Konami.

"Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" is a highly anticipated remake of the classic third installment, slated for release on August 26, 2025. While fans are hyped, Kojima clearly has no plans to revisit the legendary work he personally crafted.
He further explained that his decision to develop "Metal Gear Solid" into a long-running series back then was purely for business reasons. "Even when I was at Konami, I considered the business side of things, and that was one of the reasons I kept developing Metal Gear Solid." Now, with his own team and studio, his responsibilities and creative freedom have expanded.

The rift between Kojima and Konami began as early as 2015, when the Kojima Productions name mysteriously vanished from Konami's official website, sparking widespread concern. Multiple media outlets subsequently reported that Kojima and his core team would depart the company after completing "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" (メタルギアソリッドV ファントムペイン).
By that summer, Kojima's name was scrubbed from "The Phantom Pain's" promotional materials. That same year, the highly anticipated horror game "Silent Hills" was canceled, and its playable teaser, "P.T.," was later removed from digital storefronts.
Even though the two parties have long gone their separate ways, Konami's current "Metal Gear Solid" producer, Noriaki Okamura, recently stated publicly, "It would be a dream come true if we could work with Mr. Kojima and the original team again." However, he also admitted, "Everyone has new commitments and directions, so we can't take collaboration for granted."
Currently, Kojima Productions launched "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" (デス・ストランディング2: オン・ザ・ビーチ) in June 2025, is collaborating with A24 on a live-action film adaptation, and is developing "OD," a new title for Xbox, alongside an unnamed PlayStation-exclusive espionage action game, continuously expanding its creative horizons.
