The latest Marvel blockbuster, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," set for a 2026 release, is currently in full production. While director Destin Daniel Cretton is confirmed to be utilizing extensive practical action and wirework, action superstar Jackie Chan has now revealed that his legendary stunt team, the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, is involved in the film's stunt design and execution.
Speaking with Hong Kong media outlet hk01.com, Chan disclosed, "I went to London and visited the set. My Jackie Chan Stunt Team was busy filming 'Spider-Man,' and I was the action director for the team. I went to watch their rehearsals, and the director was so excited when he saw me. I made sure he understood that they are part of my team!"
While Chan himself isn't directly choreographing the action, he emphasized that the team is a professional unit he personally trained and leads. Chan also praised lead actor Tom Holland, stating, "I heard this young man pays homage to my films, performing many of his own stunts in numerous action sequences. He is incredibly dedicated."
The Jackie Chan Stunt Team previously contributed to the Marvel film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" in recent years. Their involvement in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" undoubtedly promises to elevate the film's action sequences.
Plot details for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" are currently rumored to center on a collaboration and conflict between Spider-Man and The Punisher, as they team up against The Hulk and Scorpion. Other rumored villains include Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Ramrod, with speculation even suggesting involvement of the Venom symbiote, potentially paving the way for Mac Gargan's Scorpion to transform into Venom in the future.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." The screenplay is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, writers of "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
The cast features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, and "Stranger Things" fan-favorite Sadie Sink, among others.
The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
