BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the official side story "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS ASTRAY" for its 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model series, "MG (Master Grade)," known for its excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and extensive articulation. The "MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Mirage Frame Second Issue" is scheduled for release in November 2025. This product will be exclusively sold on the official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The MBF-P05LM2 Gundam Astray Mirage Frame Second Issue is an enhanced mobile suit modified by the mysterious organization "Librarian" based on the Gundam Astray Mirage Frame. It is also equipped with the "Special Mirage Colloid" system, which disguises its appearance as other mobile suits. Specialized for ultra-close-quarters combat, its reaction speed has been drastically improved, allowing it to completely evade enemy artillery fire, thus eliminating the need for artillery MS support. However, the pilot's body must be modified to fully unleash its performance. This unit is armed with the standard equipment of the Astray series, the Japanese katana-style physical sword "Ama-no-Murakumo," and features a mechanism to transform from its usual "Tyrant Mode" into a four-legged "Beast Mode." In Beast Mode, it utilizes its head-mounted fang-type beam sabers and the claw-like "C-Blades Type A/Type B" on its limbs for high-speed attacks, leaving no room for the opponent to counter.
The "MG 1/100 Gundam Astray Mirage Frame Second Issue" is being brought to life in the MG series with a completely new design, under the thorough supervision of designer Junichi Akutsu. The kit is based on previously released Astray frames, combined with a wealth of new parts and new waterslide decals for the fuselage markings, reproducing the high-density detailed sculpting, precise part separation, and color separation of the entire mobile suit. In addition to its excellent articulated joint design, the main body can transform from its MS form "Tyrant Mode" into the four-legged "Beast Mode" without swapping any parts.
In Tyrant Mode, it can be equipped with standard Astray series armaments such as the "Beam Rifle," "Beam Saber," and "Anti-Beam Shield." The "C-Blades Type A/Type B" mounted on its four limbs are reproduced with a new design. After transforming into Beast Mode, the beast head can be fitted with a pair of beam saber effects to recreate the "Beam Fangs."
