Though Chadwick Boseman, who famously portrayed Black Panther's T'Challa, tragically passed away from cancer five years ago, and Marvel Studios honored his legacy by having T'Challa die in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," the recently released animated series "Marvel Zombies" on Disney+ features the character's return. Given its alternate universe setting, T'Challa makes an appearance, but instead of recasting the voice actor, the creative team opted to adjust the narrative, using Spider-Man's narration to convey T'Challa's original dialogue.

Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, and "Marvel Zombies" director Bryan Andrews recently spoke with Screen Rant, where they elaborated on the decision.
Andrews explained that if Chadwick Boseman were still alive, the creative choices would have been entirely different. He revealed that had Boseman been with them, he would have had his own dedicated Star-Lord T'Challa (variant) spinoff series long before "Marvel Zombies" went into production. Andrews remarked that revisiting Boseman's character in this form, even without dialogue, felt like a unique way to honor him, stressing that it was still "Chadwick's Black Panther" and "pretty cool." Winderbaum further mentioned that they presented early animation footage to "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler for his input, and Coogler offered "some great ideas" that proved to be "fantastic additions" to the sequence.
