"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc, Chapter 1: Akaza's Return" Smashes ¥82.3 Billion, Becomes Japan's Highest-Grossing Film Worldwide

"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc, Chapter 1: Akaza's Return" has been an absolute box office juggernaut since its Japanese debut, unleashing a global frenzy and racking up astounding numbers across Asia, the US, and beyond.

Toho Animation, the film's distributor, announced last night (September 25) that "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc, Chapter 1: Akaza's Return" has officially blasted past ¥82.3 billion in global box office, seizing the crown as the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time worldwide!

Since its premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025, the film has continued its scorching run. As of September 22, after 67 days in Japanese cinemas, it had pulled in ¥34,186,470,400, holding strong as the second-highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history.

But the real story unfolded overseas, with staggered releases kicking off in August. By September 22, the combined global tally, including Japan, hit an incredible 67,022,040 admissions and a staggering total box office of ¥82,359,488,100. This officially catapults it past every other Japanese film ever released worldwide, setting an all-time record!

And get this: in the North American market, where it premiered on September 12, "The Infinity Castle Arc" made history as the first Japanese animated film to snag the #1 spot at the US box office for two consecutive weeks! It blew past the $100 million mark, with cumulative admissions soaring over 8.91 million, cementing its status as a monumental box office success for Japanese animation in the States.

The official team also extended their heartfelt gratitude to every single moviegoer worldwide, as well as the cinema staff and partners who helped bring the film to screens.

While it hasn't yet dethroned "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train" for the top spot in Japan, its global cumulative box office and status as the highest-grossing Japanese film worldwide clearly show that the "Infinity Castle Arc" phenomenon is truly global, with international earnings eclipsing its domestic performance.

And with these record-breaking numbers still climbing, it looks like this epic wave of "Demon Slayer" fever is far from over!
