Hey model builders! You know that box your kit comes in? For some, it's just another piece of cardboard to stack up. But what if it could be more? What if it became part of the epic scene itself?
Get ready to meet Japanese X user Rainas (@Rainas_g), who just blew everyone's minds! He took a seemingly ordinary Space Battleship Yamato model box and, with a stroke of genius, integrated it with the kit to create a jaw-dropping "breakout" launch scene! His ingenious concept has earned massive praise online.
Rainas shared that he previously studied oil painting and colored pencil art. But his true passion also lies in model building, a hobby he picked up about five years ago and frequently shares on social media.
For this "Yamato" masterpiece, Rainas mostly did a straight build, then painted it with acrylics. The real magic? He transformed the model box itself into the dynamic stage, giving the whole scene an incredible sense of immersion.

What truly grabs your attention is the explosive white smoke billowing around the ship. Rainas sculpted it using paper clay, and that raw, textured finish perfectly captures the sheer force of an explosion and splashing water. A clever paint job then brings that intense energy to life!
The entire build was a lightning-fast two-day affair: Day one for assembly and prepping the box, and day two for painting and adding all those crucial scene details.
Rainas explained his unique approach came from a simple philosophy: "It's boring to do the same thing as everyone else." That drive pushed him to explore entirely new creative avenues.
This passion project, brimming with "Yamato love," quickly exploded online with comments like, "It literally burst out of the box!" and "This creativity is insane! So unbelievably cool!" Rainas was genuinely moved by the outpouring of support: "I'm usually not very confident, but seeing so many people respond made me feel like taking on this challenge was absolutely worth it."
Turns out, this burst of creative energy had a very personal backstory. With his wife due to give birth in November, Rainas realized, "I won't have time for models once the baby arrives!" So, he poured all his effort into finishing this incredible piece now.
