Two years ago, "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter first announced that "Black Panther" franchise director Ryan Coogler was developing a new iteration of the series, emphasizing a "racially diverse cast." After two years in development, the casting process for this diversity-focused project is finally yielding names. According to Nexus Point News, Danielle Deadwyler, known for her roles in the DC series "Watchmen" and "Till," is reportedly in negotiations to portray one of the lead agents. A male counterpart for her character has yet to be named. Deadwyler's potential casting, however, underscores Coogler's commitment to a racially diverse cast, departing from the previous iteration's all-white lead duo.
Coogler is set to pen the pilot script for the new series and will serve as an executive producer for the entire run. It's also expected that he will personally direct several episodes, including the pilot.
