Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza's Return has been an absolute box office juggernaut since its Japanese debut, raking in astonishing numbers across Asia and sparking a global "Demon Slayer" cinematic pilgrimage, even in the US and beyond.
Today, producer and distributor Aniplex announced that as of November 16, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza's Return" has officially blasted past the 100 billion yen mark in global box office! Not only is it the fifth highest-grossing film globally in 2025, but it's also the first Japanese film in history to hit the 100 billion yen milestone.

After its US premiere on September 12, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Infinity Castle Arc" made history as the first Japanese animated film to top the North American box office for two consecutive weeks. Its cumulative box office in North America soared past $128.62 million, making it the highest-grossing foreign language film in North American box office history and shattering a 25-year record. Furthermore, its global box office had already claimed the top spot for Japanese films worldwide by the end of September, and today it officially pushed past the 100 billion yen milestone.

Since its Japanese release on July 18, the film has drawn an incredible 26.04 million viewers in just 122 days, accumulating 37.9 billion yen in Japan alone. As of November 16, the global cumulative attendance, including Japan, has reached a staggering 89,177,796 people, with the total box office rocketing to a mind-blowing 106,370,568,950 yen. This officially blows past the 100 billion yen milestone, setting entirely new records in Japanese cinema history.
Aniplex extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the supporting audiences and theaters, stating, "We are incredibly thankful to every single viewer who came to the cinema, and to all the staff involved in bringing this film to the screen."
While it hasn't yet surpassed the domestic box office record of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train" in Japan, its global cumulative box office has already become the highest in history. This clearly shows that the "Infinity Castle Arc" viewing frenzy is truly world-class, with an unprecedented level of passion from countries outside of Japan.
And with these record-breaking numbers still climbing, Akaza, the pivotal character in this theatrical release, has officially been dubbed "The 100 Billion Yen Man" by fans online.
