"Expelled from Paradise," the 2014 anime film directed by Seiji Mizushima, penned by Gen Urobuchi, and co-produced by Toei Animation and Nitro+, captivated audiences with its unique blend of cosmic and sci-fi elements.
Back in early 2024, the announcement of a brand-new theatrical anime, "Expelled from Paradise: Resonating Hearts" (tentative title, 楽園追放 心のレゾナンス), sent fans into a frenzy, eager for the sequel after a decade-long wait. Last night (November 22), the official word dropped: the film is officially hitting theaters on November 13, 2026! They also unveiled the latest PV and key visual, along with the main voice cast: Ayane Sakura, Saori Hayami, Yoshino Aoyama, and Sally Amaki.
The 2014 film "Expelled from Paradise" plunged viewers into a future where a "Nano Hazard" has ravaged Earth's ecosystem. 98% of humanity abandoned their physical bodies, digitizing their consciousness to live in the virtual data space of "Deva," a space station deployed at the Earth-Moon L1 point. When a mysterious entity called "Frontier Setter" repeatedly hacks into Deva, agent Angela Balzac is dispatched with a regenerated physical body to return to Earth.
After Angela teams up with ground support operative "Dingo," their investigation uncovers that the reality of Deva and the surface world is far more complex than initially believed. This journey gradually shifts Angela's perspective on the surface dwellers and reveals hidden secrets.
Fans have been clamoring for this new installment, and "Expelled from Paradise: Resonating Hearts" is finally here after over a decade! The official release date is locked in, and the production team is still stacked with talent: Seiji Mizushima returns as director, Gen Urobuchi handles the script, Masatsugu Saito is on character design, and NARASAKI is composing the music.
