Cuban actress Ana de Armas, who solidified her Hollywood presence with roles in "Blade Runner 2049" and "Knives Out," further showcased her formidable talent three years ago with her acclaimed portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in "Blonde." That performance earned her Best Actress nominations at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, actively demonstrating her capabilities. However, de Armas admits that her efforts are still not fully recognized by some.

During a recent appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival, de Armas discussed the lingering skepticism surrounding her major award nominations. She stated that some people still believe it was "just luck, as if I got it out of nowhere." De Armas added, "I still feel like I need to prove myself again. While starring in action films like 'Ballerina' is fun, that's not all I'm capable of."
De Armas also defended "Blonde" as a whole, feeling that other contributors to the production didn't receive adequate recognition. She said, "We had higher expectations for this film. I wasn't the only good thing about it; Andrew [Dominik, the director], the hairstylists, makeup artists, and many other departments and crew members—they all deserved recognition and praise from their peers." She continued, "I was thrilled to be nominated, but I felt somewhat alone at the awards ceremonies because I was the only one representing the film, facing all the controversies, tough interviews, and topics by myself. At the same time, when would such an opportunity come again? Perhaps this was my only time in that position, so I truly enjoyed that small awards and promotional tour."
