Today (December 28), the official announcement dropped: a TV anime adaptation is on the way, complete with its first promotional video. And here's the kicker: acclaimed studio Kyoto Animation is handling production! This marks KyoAni's first-ever adaptation of a Jump series. No premiere date has been revealed yet.

"RuriDragon" follows high schooler Ruri Aoki, who wakes up one day to find horns growing from her head. Her mom then drops the bombshell: Ruri inherited dragon blood from her dad! This long-kept secret quickly spreads through school, making her the center of attention.
Things get a little fiery when Ruri accidentally sneezes fire, singeing a classmate's hair. After learning to control her newfound powers, she returns to school and reveals her true self. Surprisingly, her classmates take it all in stride, helping her forge new friendships. The manga previously snagged first place in "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics 2023" and second in the Web Manga category of "Next Manga Award 2024," proving it's both a critical darling and a fan favorite.

The newly released anime PV features Ruri striking the same pose as on the first manga volume's cover. The moment she turns her head with a surprised expression, fans immediately exclaimed, "That's so KyoAni!" The PV also faithfully recreates several iconic poses from the original work, marking the first official look at Kyoto Animation's take on Ruri.

Author Masakazu Shindo also shared his excitement via a message, thanking everyone for their continued support of "RuriDragon" this year. He mentioned his particular fondness for Kyoto Animation's "Hyouka," especially the multi-perspective portrayal in the cultural festival arc, finding even "almost action-less scenes" like Houtarou sitting and minding the store incredibly engaging. He expressed his immense anticipation for KyoAni to produce the "RuriDragon" anime.

As for the actual broadcast date, officials have only stated that it will be "a while," with more information to be released progressively.
