Logan Paul Auctions Off World's Priciest Pokémon Card: The $5.275 Million Holy Grail

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCG) is absolutely blowing up, with players worldwide — from Japan to the West — diving into new packs and competitive tournaments. Card prices are skyrocketing, solidifying its spot as a top dog in the TCG world.

Guinness World Records recently announced that the "most expensive Pokémon card sold in a private transaction" – the coveted "Pokémon Illustrator" – is officially hitting the auction block. And guess who's selling it? None other than famous American YouTuber, Logan Paul.

This legendary "Pokémon Illustrator" card was originally a limited-edition prize awarded 25 years ago to winners of a Pokémon Card Illustration Contest held by the children's magazine "CoroCoro Comic." Overseas, it's famously known as the "Pikachu Illustrator."

A perfectly preserved PSA 10 graded version of the card fetched a staggering $5,275,000 in 2021, earning it the Guinness World Record for "most expensive Pokémon card sold in a private transaction." The buyer? Logan Paul himself, who famously rocked the card as a necklace during a WWE wrestling appearance, sparking massive buzz.

Paul once stated, "I was willing to spend $5.3 million on this card because, over the past 20 years, Pokémon cards have appreciated by over 3000%, outperforming even the stock market. It might be more valuable than luxury watches, fancy cars, or even dinosaur fossils."

But now, he's announced, "I've decided to sell it." While he hasn't revealed his reasons, the card is currently up for auction, bundled with a custom Pokémon-themed chain valued at $7,500. The auction runs until February 15th local time, and Paul has promised to personally hand over the card to the winning bidder.

Separately, Logan Paul recently stirred up discussion on X by suggesting "a remake that closely resembles the original style" for Pokémon cards, only to be met with a cold reception from fans. Now, this multi-million dollar card has once again put him in the spotlight.
