Hold up, BanG Dream! fans! Bushiroad, the company behind the popular multimedia franchise, just dropped a bombshell at the "Cardfight!! Vanguard 15th Anniversary Bushiroad New Year's Grand Presentation 2026" yesterday (January 12). Get ready for a brand-new mobile game, BanG Dream! Our Notes, slated to launch in 2026.
Here's the kicker: While the original mobile game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, is confirmed to keep running, Bushiroad announced that the series' bands will be "splitting up" and appearing in different games. This move, segmenting old and new groups across separate titles, has left many players absolutely fuming.
So, what's got everyone so upset? The core issue is that BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, which first launched in 2017, will no longer feature the same roster of bands as the upcoming BanG Dream! Our Notes. The two games will each host their own distinct sets of groups.
The veteran game will continue to feature fan favorites like Poppin'Party, Roselia, Afterglow, Pastel*Palettes, Hello, Happy World!, RAISE A SUILEN, and Morfonica – essentially the established, older groups.
Meanwhile, the shiny new game will introduce MyGO!!!!!, Ave Mujica, Mugen Dai MewType (from the anime set to air this summer), and two brand-new bands: millsage and Ichika Dumb Rock!.
For a lot of players, the appeal of BanG Dream! was being able to enjoy all the series' characters in one place. Now, with the new game splitting the franchise, fans feel Bushiroad is trying to "double-dip" and force them to play two separate mobile titles just to experience the complete world. It's a classic case of feeling like a cash grab.
Of course, mobile games need to make a profit, that's a given. But BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! is about to celebrate its ninth anniversary. Splitting the bands now, especially when the popularity between older and newer groups isn't uniform, creates a massive sense of betrayal for players. It feels like they're being strung along.
As of now, Bushiroad hasn't confirmed a definitive launch date for BanG Dream! Our Notes. But for "BanG Dream!" fans, this whole maneuver is proving to be both baffling and deeply disappointing.
