The latest "Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase" on the evening of February 5th delivered exactly what fans crave: a fresh look at upcoming titles from various publishers. It's always a highly anticipated event for gamers worldwide.
But the biggest curveball of the night? None other than Japanese baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani himself, making a surprise cameo! Many viewers were stunned to see the two-way phenom pop up on screen. He was there to promote KONAMI's latest entry in the beloved Power Pros series, "Power Pros 2026-2027," marking the franchise's first new installment in two years, set to launch this summer.
Ohtani's appearance definitely got fans talking. After all, he just led the Los Angeles Dodgers to their second consecutive World Series title last year and is gearing up to lead Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic. This isn't his first time gracing a Power Pros announcement; he also showed up for "Power Pros 2024-2025" back in 2024.
A smiling Ohtani greeted the Nintendo Direct audience, saying, "Long time no see, everyone watching Nintendo Direct! Today, I'm here to introduce a game where you can challenge the whole world." He then coolly snapped his fingers, kicking off the game's official introduction.
The announcement officially confirmed that "Power Pros 2026-2027," the newest title in the series, will launch this summer. As KONAMI's baseball game ambassador, Ohtani passionately declared, "Let's play baseball with the whole world!"
The new game's "Success Mode" will feature the "Parallel World All-Stars Chapter," bringing together characters from throughout the series' history. Players will journey through 30 years of Success Mode worlds, embarking on adventures and recruiting allies along the way.
On top of that, the game will include a "PowerFes" story chapter detailing the origins of the tournament, plus a special Success Mode where players can team up with Shohei Ohtani himself to aim for world domination!
