Deadline exclusively reported today that Mike Flanagan, Hollywood's go-to director for Stephen King adaptations, is now set to bring "The Mist" back to the big screen. Flanagan will write and direct the new adaptation. Unlike the previous film version, which was distributed by MGM, Warner Bros. Pictures will handle this new iteration. Additionally, Flanagan will co-produce under his banner, Red Room.

Over the years, Flanagan has adapted several King works, including "Gerald's Game," "Doctor Sleep," and "The Life of Chuck." He recently wrapped a new series adaptation of "Carrie" and is currently developing a full reboot of "The Dark Tower" as both a series and a film. His resume is filled with King's iconic titles.
Hollywood has previously adapted "The Mist" twice. The first was the 2007 film version, written and directed by Frank Darabont, known for "The Shawshank Redemption." The second was a 2017 television series.
