Japanese renowned toy company GOOD SMILE COMPANY has officially unveiled a new product based on "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition" — the "Rei Ayanami" 1/7 scale pre-painted figure, with a suggested retail price of 18,600 JPY, scheduled for release in March 2027!
Rei Ayanami, the pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, is the heroine drawn by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer for EVA, using a character from his previous manga work "Kōtō no Oni" (孤島の鬼) as a blueprint, and based on Anno's script prompts. In Anno's concept, she represents the unconscious part of Shinji's mind and is one of the objects of Shinji's Oedipus complex.
This Rei Ayanami 1/7 scale pre-painted figure stands approximately 20.5 cm tall, bringing to life Rei Ayanami's pose from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's illustration for the New Theatrical Edition. The sculpting delicately recreates the graceful body curves tightly enveloped by the plugsuit, and intricate details such as the wrinkles and textures of the plugsuit are also exquisitely reproduced. Coupled with her ethereal gaze and finely painted sky-blue short hair, Rei Ayanami's captivating charm is perfectly captured! Furthermore, the red rocky base corresponds with the simultaneously revealed "Shikinami Asuka Langley", allowing for a combined display to recreate the illustration scene by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto!
