"The Mandalorian & Grogu," the highly anticipated film adaptation of the "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian," dropped its second trailer last night, unexpectedly revealing a new, previously unannounced cast member: Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese. Sharp-eared viewers quickly noted that the voice of the Adennian alien shopkeeper (pictured right) in the trailer strongly resembled Scorsese's. Shortly after, the official "Star Wars" account posted a snippet of the shopkeeper's dialogue, formally announcing Scorsese as the character's voice actor.

Scorsese is well-known for his frequent cameo appearances. He has not only featured in many of his own directed films but also made notable appearances in projects like "Entourage," "Shark Tale," and most recently, played himself in "The Studio."

The film is directed by "The Mandalorian" co-creator Jon Favreau, known for "Iron Man," who also co-wrote the screenplay with fellow series co-creator Dave Filoni. It is set to premiere in North America on May 22.

Regarding the cast, Pedro Pascal reprises his role as the protagonist Din Djarin. Sigourney Weaver joins the ensemble in a new, yet-to-be-fully-revealed role, currently known only as a fighter pilot. Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White, who gained prominence from the series "The Bear," will portray Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt.
