Utada Hikaru Sings New 'Chibi Maruko-chan' Ending Theme, Drops Late March with Fresh Visuals!

The iconic anime series Chibi Maruko-chan recently made waves by announcing a major collaboration for its 35th anniversary: popular singer Ado is taking over the classic opening theme, "Odorupompokorin"!

Today (March 5), officials dropped another bombshell: Utada Hikaru is confirmed to perform the brand-new ending theme for the "Chibi Maruko-chan" anime! Her new track, "Pappaparadise," will make its grand debut at the end of the "Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom! Wishing Everyone Happiness! Spring 1-Hour Special," airing March 29.

To date, the "Chibi Maruko-chan" anime has featured 12 different ending themes by a host of artists. This time, the production team directly approached Utada Hikaru, making this dream collaboration a reality.

Alongside the announcement, new visuals were unveiled, featuring a fresh illustration of Maruko with Utada Hikaru, plus a stunning new photo of Utada Hikaru by photographer Takay. Details on the official release of "Pappaparadise" will be shared later via Utada Hikaru's official website and social media channels.

Yoshinori Takeeda, producer at Fuji TV's Animation Production Department, shared the concept conveyed to Utada Hikaru for the song: "a bright rhythm, bursting with positive energy," and a feeling that "makes you eagerly anticipate tomorrow, welcoming it with hope."

Utada Hikaru herself penned both the lyrics and music for this track, which not only keeps her signature style but also perfectly captures the heartwarming vibe of "Chibi Maruko-chan."

With Ado on the opening theme and now Utada Hikaru on the ending theme for "Chibi Maruko-chan's" latest milestone, this dream team-up is truly a rare treat. We can't wait to hear the full track when it officially drops!
